Ali (2001)

Plot: In 1964, a brash new pro boxer, fresh from his olympic gold medal victory, explodes on to the scene, Cassius Clay. Bold and outspoken, he cuts an entirely new image for African American’s in sport with his proud public self confidence with his unapologetic belief that he is the greatest boxer of all time. To his credit, he sets out to prove that with his highly agile and forceful style soon making him a formidable boxer who soon claims the heavyweight championship. His personal life is no less noteworthy with his allegiance to the Nation of Islam, his friendship with the controversial Malcolm X and his abandonment of his slave name in favour of Muhammad Ali stirring up controversy. Yet, at the top of his game, both Ali’s personal and professional lives face the ultimate test with the military draft rules are changed, making him eligible for military induction during the Vietnam War. Despite the fact that he could easily agree to a sweetheart deal that would have meant an easy tour of duty for himself, Ali refuses to submit on principle to cooperate in an unjust war for a racist nation that treated his people so poorly. The cost of that stand is high as he finds himself unable to legally box in his own country while his case is contested in court. What follows is a battle for a man who would sacrifice so much for what he believes in and a comeback that would cement his legend as one of the great sports figures of all time.

The Bachelor ( last nights episode )?
If you were Ali…. would you have chosen to leave and save the job OR stick it out and hope you’re ”The-One " ???

I’m thinking Ali played this game and just wanted Jake to tell her THEN that she was the one.
and………… Jake called her bluff >> I think she made a HUGE mistake and think Jake knew what she was doing ( by the expression on his face )
But then it shows in next weeks episode….. Ali calls him.
Maybe she has just watched too much Bachelor/Bachelorette and is Pulling -a-Ed from last year thinking Jake will take her back ???
<><><>such a ”different’ and much more drama than I’ve seen on this show before <><> either way,,,,,, I think it’s all bull and she thinks she pulled a fast one ( maybe she did )

What’s your thoughts ???
<><><><> Thanks >>>>

I think Ali wanted to see if he would beg her to stay, she kept dragging it on and on and even when it got to the rose ceremony she didn’t make up her mind yet and kept asking him what she should do. I think she was wanting to see if he would tell her he was in love with her and wanted to be with her for the rest of his life. You can tell by the look on Jake’s face that he thought she was being overly dramatic about it and just wanted her to make her decision. I think she wanted to see what he would do if she was going to leave and didn’t realize that he wouldn’t beg and plead for her to stay. If she didn’t want to leave she shouldn’t have left but she decided to even when he told her he wants her to stay so she needs to deal with her decision.

but I’m glad she left, she acted like a sweet girl infront of Jake but then when she wasn’t around him she would talk sooooo much crap on Vienna, that’s all who Ali talked about when she wasn’t with Jake. She’s too immature in my opinion.

im going to be honest,
if i was in ali’s situation, i would choose love,
yes i mean ur job is importasnt but
nowadays its hard trying to find love in this world
and i mean u can always find another
job especially with her background
Aly | Feb 09, 2010

My thoughts are she knows the statistics. The Bachelor/Bachelorette is in it’s 19th edition – and thus far, there has only been one lasting marriage. She just started her dream job with Facebook in San Francisco a couple of months prior to going on the show and didn’t have enough rapport with the company to be indispensable. She also stood in front of him and told him she loved him. He did not say it back, he did not tell her "screw the show, I love you and I want to be with you" – he said "Okay audios there are 3 other chicks who want me". I completely believe that she made the right decision and that even if she calls, she will not be back.
Two Pretty in Pink | Feb 09, 2010

I think she’s coming back!!
Jeff W | Feb 09, 2010

I wonder why she even went on the show without agreeing beforehand the amount of time she would need if she made it to the end?

Jake did tell her she wasn’t on the line that night, so she would have been one of the last 3 women. Granted, it’s tough to find love, but it’s also tough to find a job right now and she lives in the most expensive city in the US.

Don’t worry, looks like she’s trying to come back anyway. :)
sandand_surf | Feb 09, 2010

Thanks goodness Ali left – she should have been sent long ago.

She must have known she was supposed to go back to work, why did she want to destroy Vienna?

She is a sick, immature, jealous little girl.
Luce | Feb 09, 2010

I think Two Pretty in Pink said it all!!!!!!

I do feel sorry for Jake, he is a nice guy………….but I doubt if he’s going to find love on this show………….but I enjoy watching!!!!
Sweet Judy | Feb 09, 2010

several times i was never going to watch this show again.
But I do.
And not for the reasons they think.
It’s not real. and it is very very cheesy.
Girls crying after meeting him one night at a party on the first episode like
they lost the love of their life.
The rules prevent Jake from giving anything away.
I would not care if I knew who he was going to pick.
We could just watch more of that girl every week.
we could be involved in the process of man and woman more.
we could know all along who it was.
so what.
Jake was not allowed to say you are it to ali…..he should have been able to say
I am going to pick you…stay.
but the show is sooooo fake it’s ridiculous.
shannon02114 | Feb 09, 2010

Didn’t Ali learn anything from the previous show before she signed up for this one? I’m talking about the show where a guy went home because of his job, but came back. If you don’t have 100% permission in writing that they will hold your job for you, then don’t even go on the show, period. Now, if I were in the same position and lived in California, I would have to follow my gut. I think that is what she did in all honesty. I think we all know that Jake has given his heart already to another, but because it is reality TV, he has to play the game and that is exactly what he is doing. If Ali was the one, he would have somehow convinced her to stay. Notice that when she left, he did have a tear, but then that was it and he moved on. To me that was a huge hint. BTW, I think it is Tenley that has his heart.
timetravler | Feb 09, 2010

I think Ali did the right thing. If Jake really wanted her should of got down on one knee and propose before she left. He can’t guarantee shes going to be the last one standing. So why lose your job over a guy who have feeling for you and 3 other women. I have watched most of the episode this season and I can tell that he is love with the 4 of them very deeply. If I was him it’ll be really hard to choose. I personally think that if Ali and Jake are meant to be he’ll just stay on the show for ABC and at the end reject all 3 of them and go win ali back.

Red Cross: At this of emergeny, Mr. Limbaugh, it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the poor and destitute.
Limbaugh: Are there no prisons?
Red Cross: Plenty of prisons.
Limbaugh: And the union workhouses – are they still in operation?
Red Cross They are. I wish I could say they were not.
Limbaugh Oh, from what you said at first I was afraid that something had happened to stop them in their useful course. I’m very glad to hear it.
Red Cross: I don’t think you quite understand us, sir. We are endeavoring to buy the poor some food and water, and means of susvial.

I think what Rush is trying to say is that the people of Haiti are more than capable of dealing with the situation. If we help them they will not learn to help themselves. You could go over there yourself and help them clean up the mess. That would be very helpful on your part. You could ask him if he wouldn’t mind helping as well. It is our actions, not our money that will help people the most. Bring some food along while you are at it, too.

How does Paul not contradict Jesus in these verses?
Jesus said, "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give." Matt. 10:

Jesus says give freely.

Paul said, "If we have sown spiritual seed among you, is it too much if we reap a material harvest from you?" 1 Cor. 9:11.

Paul says, "pay me".

Do you think Paul may have been in it for the money?
I’m not asking if Paul was beaten and abused, I’m asking if he contradicted Jesus; try to stay on topic for a minute.

Read the whole chapter because thats not the end of it. this is what Paul says after that.

15But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me. I would rather die than have anyone deprive me of this boast

Oli | Sep 26, 2009

If you cared to read further you would have seen verse 12

"But we did not use this right. On the contrary, we put up with anything rather than hinder the gospel of Christ." and

15 "But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me. I would rather die than have anyone deprive me of this boast."

He did not take any food or money from the Corinthinans and was proud of it. No, Paul was definatly not in it for the money.
Azules | Sep 26, 2009

It is interesting the things Paul does not say rather than what he does say. For example, he does not mention Jesus, Joseph, Mary, the miracles, the trouble with the money lenders. etc etc. The only thing he mentions is the Christ.

Odd considering Paul is the only contemporary author with the Christian time line. And seeing as not one of the gospels are old enough to be eye witness accounts.

Paul was a Roman citizen. The most popular belief system in Rome during Paul’s era was Mithra Christos. A religion that predates christianity by c1000 years and is almost identical.

Christianity did not exist until Constantine commissioned the bible, as in bought and paid for. Constantine was historically a worse insane despot that all his predecessors put together and a zealous fanatical Mithra follower.

Jesus is Mithra and Christianity is Mithra christos wearing a new name.

I think I agree with you. Not a bible scholar , but it does appear Paul is asking for payment for his sowing. Often people give with the expectation of getting. That is where they go wrong. Been reading a great book called Take Me To Truth. Perhaps you might like it also. Some look at giving as loosing something. True giving only expands and takes nothing away.
merlin | Sep 26, 2009

Read the whole context of what Paul has written and the Lord Jesus has said on this subject.

Luke 10:2 Then He said to them, "The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. 3 Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. 4 Carry neither money bag, knapsack, nor sandals; and greet no one along the road. 5 But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ 6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it; if not, it will return to you. 7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house.

1 Corinthians 9:11 If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things? 12 If others are partakers of this right over you, are we not even more? Nevertheless we have not used this right, but endure all things lest we hinder the gospel of Christ. 13 Do you not know that those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple, and those who serve at the altar partake of the offerings of the altar? 14 Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.

1 Timothy 5:17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. 18 For the Scripture says, "YOU SHALL NOT MUZZLE AN OX WHILE IT TREADS OUT THE GRAIN," and, "THE LABORER IS WORTHY OF HIS WAGES."

God provided that the proclaimers of the good news had the right to accept material help from those to whom they brought it. (1Co 9:11-14) But Paul and his close associates so cherished their privilege as bearers of the good news that they carefully avoided making financial gain therefrom, or even giving the appearance of doing so in connection with their preaching. The apostle Paul describes his course of action in this regard at 1

Suggestions for team suit?
I want to decide on my swim team’s competitive suits this summer. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on what suit I should pick. Here are the features I need in the (girls) suit:

-Fully lined
-Professional ( I don’t want it to have a crazy design. I want it to be 2 to 3 solid colors)
-Black/green, black/white, green/white, black/green/white

I would prefer the suit have:
**Optional
-Thin straps (Most competitive suits come in wide straps or thin straps)
-It would be cool if the design is splice

Here are some that I like
Eliminator Splice Poly Butterfly Back (only front lined though)
TYR Female Diamond Back (unsure of lining)
Speedo Axcel Back Team Splice (unsure of lining)
Speedo Endurance Sonic Splice (unsure of lining)

I also like the design of the TYR Alliance Team Poly Splice, TYR Alliance T-Splice, and Alliance Team Splice, but they don’t have thin straps

Please list as many as you know of
Thanks!

I am a female swimmer and i know that basically everyone on my team loves nike cut outs! a simple design on the bust should do, but i will actually be ashamed if you dont get these suits. they are the most comfortable, attractive, without drag or too much extra material making you feel like a granny. ask your team what they like, maybe make a ballot and see what is popular, because in the end they will be the ones wearing the suits, not you.

allie girl | Jan 26, 2010

well i think you should go for the wide strapped it looks more classy and more serious
wakeboardchick | Jan 25, 2010

Last year my team had nike suits. They were blue and black with thin straps (they look more mature and are more flattering….) I think they were these suits…
http://store.nike.com/index.jsp?country= US&lang_locale=en_US&l=shop,pdp, ctr-inline/cid-1/pid-259638/pgid-259640# l=shop,pdp,ctr-inline/cid-1/pid-276255/p gid-276257

They don’t look all that great here, but in real life they are tight and very flattering. (well as flattering as a swim suit can be;])
But we got the print customized. It was a cool swirly print but they only used black and royal blue. The straps were black. I highly recommend NIke. They are quality suits and slightly cheaper than other ocmpanies….
Queenieio | Jan 25, 2010

i personally really like this suit and i think it fits your description. when i was diving competitively we had a team suit similar to this except it had thicker straps, was black/red and the design on it was more swirly. out team got a lot of compliments on them, and at a competition one of the judges came up to us after an event and told us how much she liked our suits and wanted to know what club we represented

Saving Shiloh (2006)

IMDB rating: 6.50

Plot: Can bad people be rehabilitated, or are some people just inherently bad? Should a person follow his head or his heart? Young Marty Preston (Jason Dolley) wrestles with these issues when dealing with his surly neighbor Judd Travers (Scott Wilson): a man that the entire community distrusts and who once seriously abused Marty’s dog Shiloh. Etiquette requires that Marty be civil and even neighborly with Judd, but Shiloh refuses to even cross the bridge to Judd’s property. When Judd has an automobile accident while driving drunk and then a dead body shows up in the woods, rumors run wild in town and Judd becomes the townsfolk’s prime murder suspect. Even while Marty and his friend launch their own private investigation of Judd, Marty considers whether Judd may have really changed for the better and his compassion for Judd’s chained dogs leads him to offer to help set up a fence at Judd’s place. Judd and Marty become almost friendly with one another, but the results of the boys’ investigation combined with a freak accident involving Marty’s sister will ultimately test Marty’s newfound faith in his neighbor to the extreme. Young audience members will find this sequel to Shiloh less disturbing than the original thanks to a toning down of both Judd’s attitude and his abusive behavior toward his dogs.

Can you think a better alternative to a .25 automatic in my sock?
I am divorced. Alimony. Child support. Dad died. I got enough to buy a small house in a high crime neighborhood in Los Angeles. Now I don’t pay rent. One less expense. I need to save for my little daughter’s Sweet Sixteen, Car, College and Wedding.

Bought a dog. The only mean dog Allstate Insurance permits is a German Shepherd. Got one at the pound. Messed up. Got "Shiloh" Shepherd. Special bred of German Shepherd. Dog is big, but cowardly. 135 of cowardice. Cannot/will not protect me.

I cannot fight. I am extremely small and skinny for a man. Anyone can whip my butt. I cannot run. I have knee injury. I walk for hour and a half/two hours to exercise. So I am small, skinny, injured, and gay, in a high crime neighborhood, and my dog cannot protect me.

Currently, I stick a .25 automatic in my right sock for protection. I have one foot smaller than the other foot, and on that foot I wear two pair of socks. When I stick the .25 auto in the sock, the two tube socks hold the gun perfectly. I stick an extra clip in the other sock.

I have to hide my gun, because they don’t issue gun permits in Los Angeles City or Los Angeles County. I figure Los Angeles Police will not stop/frisk a small white lguy in his early thirties who is walking his dog who is well groomed and wearing a nice track suit and new sneakers. I am not that far from Silver Lake, a gay center of Los Angeles, and I figure they will just say "Oh, another f__ out exercising."

Can anyone think of a better alternative for protection than what I am doing?

Please note: It’s in my sock because I don’t think a cop will notice it there. If I get a bigger gun he will NOTICE it. If you tell me I need a bigger gun, I will simply assume you are dyslexic.

Please note: Civilian possession of an Ankle Holster is a crime in California.

Do you know the meaning of being Dyslexic? That means you read and write things backwards. I`m sure you`ll end up shooting yourself in your foot with that pea shooter. You do know if you pull that on someone they`ll prob just laugh and pull out a bigger gun. And if some one holds you up or mugs you how are you going to get to your sock? At least on your hip you can act like your taking out your wallet.

BeachBum818 | Nov 15, 2009

I’m not sure why you’re hung up on the legalities. You’re already breaking the law, so you should at least do so somewhat safely.

Look up Thunderwear, IMO, the best deep concealment holster available.

Also, perhaps look into the Kel-Tec P3AT. Smaller and lighter than most .25s, and if you can get it, I would sure trust a .380 more than a .25.

I’d get something a litte bigger, you can get licences to legally carry a pistol, you just need to ask the police when they do the sessions, but i would go for a 9mm or .22 LR for protection, but untill you get a liscense, i’d stick with the .25.

May be easier to repent, and pray that God will remove you from your pig pen.

A 25 is your sock is not worth the extra weight.
Why not get a telescoping security baton? They are about 8" closed and weigh not much more than your 25. Extended they are about 20". They are made of steel and can easily break an arm, or crack a skull.
Its not illegal to carry.

But as one guy already said- your already illegal with the 25, so why not get a real gun?
Or, how about thsi???why can’t you just apply for a gun permit….then carry what ever you wish. Or, why can’t you just move?

A .25 in your sock is useless. You won’t have time to grab it before you get beat to a pulp. A bigger gun in your sock is equally useless for the same reason. Any breed of dog can be trained to protect you. Allstate is not the only homeowner’s insurance company. When it’s time to renew, shop for a company that allows different breeds. Even though your dog isn’t vicious his size and appearance will be enough to cause thugs to look for a different victim.

Citizen Kane

Citizen Kane
Citizen Kane (1941)

IMDB rating: 8.60

Plot: Considered by many to be the best film ever made, this is the story of Charles Foster Kane. The film opens with a long shot of Xanadu – the private estate of one of the world’s richest men. In the middle of the estate is a castle. We see, inside the castle, a dying man examining a winter scene within a crystal ball. As he drops it, it smashes, and one word is heard – “Rosebud…” What follows are pieces of newsreel-like footage detailing how Kane amassed his fortune, and turning around full circle at the end.

Directors: Welles Orson

Actors: Cotten Joseph,Collins Ray,Sanford Erskine,Sloane Everett,Alland William,Stewart Paul,Coulouris George,Bonanova Fortunio,Schilling Gus,Van Zandt Philip,Shannon Harry,Drama,Mystery,

AMC: What Was The Name Of ERICA's Sister That She Killed … SILVER Or NOELLE …?
I was just answering a question about James Mitchell. I was remembering when Erica killed her crazy sister, but I don’t remember her name. I’m thinking that her name was Silver Kane, but I think that she either had a look-a-like named Noelle, or that she had a split personality named Noelle. I was thinking about when Palmer either helped Erica dig the body up and push it into the pool … or else he helped her pull it from the pool and drag it (in a rug or a bodybag?) all across Pine Valley to bury it.

Like two little thieves (or pack rats) scuffling in the night, lol!

On a side note … isn’t it funny how Erica kills her psychotic sister for whatever reason … then condemns Annie for killing her psychotic brother because he was tormenting her, along with other PV citizens?

(sigh) I guess Erica only remembers what’s convenient for Erica to remember.

This is too much of a stretch for my memory. LOL So I had to look it up. Here’s what I found:

In 1982, Kent and Erica’s relationship hit a snag in the form of her mousy half-sister, Silver Kane, who had begun working as her assistant. Silver transformed herself into a glamorous vamp and seduced Kent, who was accidentally shot by Erica after learning of their fling. Silver was revealed to be an imposter named Connie Wilkes and sent to prison.

In 1985, Erica found a new reason to love in Jeremy Hunter, an artist who once saved Mike’s life. But their romance was thwarted at every turn by a formidable rival, Jeremy’s youthful stepmother, Natalie Hunter, who wanted him for herself. In 1987, Noelle Keaton was revealed to be the real Silver Kane, Erica’s half-sister. She became obsessed with Jeremy and was killed in self-defense by Natalie.

Lol @ greenbut’s answer! Yes, it was Silver Kane…Erica’s sister. That was so long ago, I barely can remember it. But I do remember that Erica killed her (I don’t even recall how). What I do recall is Palmer Cortland helping Erica dispose of Silver’s body and they had her rolled up in a rug.

Yep, Erica not only killed her sister, but look at all the other dispicable things she has done…stabbed her husband (Dmitry) and the list goes on and on…
